Overview Center for Wellness Orthopedic, Spine & Pain is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our growing pain management team. In this outpatient role, you will evaluate and manage patients experiencing acute and chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and spine-related disorders. The ideal candidate is confident performing comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to improve patient function and quality of life. Experience in pain management, orthopedics, spine care, or interventional medicine is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, pain assessments, and review of diagnostic studies. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pain conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, and spine-related disorders under physician supervision. Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that may include medications, rehabilitation, imaging, referrals, and interventional procedures. Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with applicable state regulations, DEA requirements, collaborative practice agreements, and clinic protocols. Monitor patients receiving controlled medications and ensure compliance with urine drug screening, prescription monitoring, treatment agreements, and other safety requirements. Perform or assist with approved pain management procedures, including joint, trigger-point, and other therapeutic injections, based on training, credentialing, and scope of practice. Provide follow-up care, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust care plans based on patient progress and clinical findings. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication safety, home care, and realistic pain-management goals. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in eClinicalWorks, including diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, procedures, and follow-up instructions. Apply appropriate ICD-10 and CPT coding principles to support accurate clinical documentation and billing. Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, referral partners, imaging facilities, pharmacies, and other members of the care team. Follow HIPAA requirements, infection-control standards, patient-safety protocols, and all Center for Wellness policies and procedures. Participate in quality-improvement activities, chart reviews, staff meetings, and ongoing clinical education. Provide care to patients involved in traditional insurance, workers' compensation, and personal injury cases when applicable. Experience and Qualifications Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the applicable state. Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification. Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one. Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is preferred. Previous experience in pain management, orthopedics, spine care, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, or another related specialty is strongly preferred. Experience performing therapeutic injections or assisting with interventional pain procedures is preferred. Experience with botulinum toxin treatments is advantageous but not required. Proficiency with eClinicalWorks or a comparable electronic health record system is preferred. Knowledge of controlled-substance regulations, prescription-monitoring requirements, HIPAA standards, and safe prescribing practices. Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding and the documentation requirements associated with pain management services. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to recognize changes in a patient's condition that require physician consultation or emergency intervention. Excellent communication, documentation, organizational, and patient-education skills. Ability to provide compassionate care to patients experiencing complex or long-term pain conditions. $65.00 - $80.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
