A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

- Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant
- for a locum tenens assignment supporting an established cardiac surgery program. This opportunity offers a mix of operative and inpatient responsibilities with a collaborative surgical team and the potential for an extended assignment.

- Responsibilities
- + First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures + Participate in perioperative patient management + Conduct inpatient rounding and follow-up care + Perform patient assessments and examinations + Complete documentation and care coordination activities + Work closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and ancillary departments + Participate in scheduled call coverage
- Requirements
- + Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program + NCCPA certification + Active state PA license (or ability to obtain) + BLS and ACLS certifications + Recent cardiothoracic surgery experience + Experience in cardiac surgery procedures + Strong communication and documentation skills
- Preferred Experience
- + Surgical first assist experience + Inpatient cardiothoracic patient management + Experience with major EMR systems
