A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

The
CTICU PA
will work closely with attending physicians, surgeons, APPs, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the immediate post-operative and intensive care setting. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about critical care medicine. The
CTICU PA
is responsible for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. He/she performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.
Qualifications Responsibilities:
Education Required Must complete in-house orientation program Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred Experience And Skills Speaks, reads and writes English CTICU experience preferred; candidates with strong critical care or cardiac experience are encouraged to apply Demonstrated clinical excellence and advanced critical thinking in high-acuity settings Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented ICU environment Epic experience preferred Basic Microsoft Office use License/Certifications Current NYS Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the NYS Board of Medicine Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers.
