POSITION SUMMARY

The Physician Assistant in the Cardiology Department provides quality service by performing a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients that are scheduled for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress tests, echos and chest pain (observation patients). The PA works in conjunctions with the Cardiologist to provide consultation to in-patients. The processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation is utilized. The NP/PA is an independent health care provider who will work closely in collaboration with the Medical Director of Cardiology and physicians of the Cardiology Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cardiology PA will deliver quality care in preparing cardiology patients for invasive cardiac procedures (cardiac cath/EP), echo and stress testing, evaluating and treating cardiac pts, obtaining consents, and following patients post cardiac catheterization as well as admitting and discharging patients from the cardiology service. The PA will assist in growing the Cardiology line of services at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an educational program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), typically a Master's Degree. New York State Licensed Physician and National Board Certification in a specialty required. Previous experience relevant to the area of cardiology and prescriptive privileges in New York State. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Employee Health Services
