Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider to join the Upstate Surgical Team to provide service in a full time Surgical Specialty Float role. Position is based in a Level I Trauma Center that provides Critical Care and services to patients across a 17+ County Region. Scheduling is determined based on operational needs. Upstate operates 24 hours a day/Seven days a week , providing continuous care to our region.
Key Responsibilities:
Cover Burn Surgery, Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Surgery in a Float Capacity. Conduct Inpatient and Outpatient encounters at the Downtown campus, providing education to and interfacing with primary teams, patients, and families prior to discharge. Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure adherence to quality metrics, optimize patient throughput, and facilitate timely and efficient patient discharges. Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team. As an APP , you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate's mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program) or eligible by time of appointment. Current NYS Licensure or Registration as a PA or NP. Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire) CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment. Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
