A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the State of Arizona, or ability to obtain before start date. Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current DEA registration and authority to prescribe medications in accordance with Arizona state law and federal regulations, as applicable. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Ability to work independently within the scope of licensure and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
