A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

AHN Beaver/Sewickley Campus Work Hours:
Varied days, days/evenings - weekends and holidays. 8 or 10 hour shifts. The Hospitalist Physician Assistant is a professional with education and training in the primary and emergency medical care of the adult and geriatric populations. The physician assistant is responsible for providing primary care to hospital inpatients under the direct medical supervision of the Hospitalist Medical Director and/or his designee. Requirements Nationally certified and/or state licensed to provide skills as a Physician Assistant in Pennsylvania with current PA State Supervising physician authority.

CPR certification. Must have a Master's degree or a current Medicare Provider number. DEA Registration. Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106. . Must possess ability to work autonomously. Preferred One year or more hospitalist experience. ACLS and PALS certification is encouraged.
