JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant performs various duties to assist the Physician(s) to whom assigned. Assists with the examination and assessment of patients in the office-based setting. May perform various duties to assist during surgery, if a surgical Physician Assistant.
SCHEDULE
Full-time schedule / Float position covering Operating Room, Urgent Care, and Hospital Coverage. On-Call rotation Will travel to other OSS locations as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examines, evaluates and performs comprehensive physical examinations of patients. May perform these duties in tandem with the Physician or independent (but under the ultimate guidance of) of the Physician. Compiles patient's medical data, including health history and the results of the physical examination. Orders diagnostic studies to aid in the diagnosis and management of the patients' care. Formulates treatment plan that may include pharmacotherapy, physical and/or occupational therapy; diagnostic and therapeutic minimally invasive interventional procedures. Consults with Physician regarding surgery as the appropriate treatment option. Evaluates follow-up, pre and post operative patients. May function as First Assist in orthopaedic surgery cases. May perform inpatient rounds on behalf of/in support of the Physician. May assume call responsibility in conjunction with Physicians. Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Physician and/or the COO in support of the patient's proper care and the level of customer service to which the organization is committed.
EDUCATION
PA or CRNP degree with current Pennsylvania license required.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience as a physician assistant preferred. Surgical experience strongly preferred for Surgical PA. Ability to function independently as well as being a contributing member of the clinical team. Demonstrated time critical decision-making skills.
