Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, intake evaluations, and medical history reviews using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Prescribe medications and administer injections in accordance with HIPAA regulations and DEA guidelines, ensuring safe drug enforcement and documentation. Perform diagnostic evaluations including interpretation of laboratory tests, radiology reports, EKGs, and other diagnostic procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps. Manage acute and chronic conditions across various specialties such as emergency medicine, critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, infectious disease care, and hospice & palliative medicine. Assist in procedures such as suturing, intubation, ventilator management, catheterization, tube feeding placement, phlebotomy, and aseptic techniques within hospital or outpatient settings. Collaborate with healthcare professionals on discharge planning, post-acute care coordination, research initiatives including clinical trials or clinical research projects, and data collection efforts. Participate in triage processes in urgent care or emergency room environments to prioritize patient needs efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient safety. Requirements Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Demonstrated experience in hospital medicine or emergency medicine settings; Level I or Level II trauma center experience is highly preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with
ICD-9/10
coding and CPT coding for billing purposes. Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic test interpretation, and pharmacology for effective patient diagnosis and treatment planning. Critical care experience including ventilator management and ICU procedures; experience with neonatal ventilators or PICU is advantageous. Ability to perform physical examinations accurately while applying aseptic techniques; skilled in client communication and health coaching. Experience in acute pain management, infectious disease care, occupational health or hospice & palliative medicine is desirable. Excellent organizational skills for data management and medical records documentation; adherence to HIPAA regulations essential.
