In this vital role, you will provide expert wound management and patient care, utilizing your clinical skills to promote healing and improve outcomes. Your responsibilities will include performing comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional wound care services. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and wound evaluations to determine the severity and underlying causes of wounds. Develop and implement personalized wound care plans utilizing advanced techniques such as suturing, debridement, and dressing applications. Administer injections, including botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate, to aid in pain management and functional recovery. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes. Perform diagnostic evaluations using medical imaging or other tools to inform treatment strategies; coordinate with specialists for complex cases involving infectious disease care or critical care needs. Manage acute pain effectively through medication administration and non-pharmacologic methods; oversee triage and urgent care procedures for wound-related emergencies. Collect data for clinical research or quality improvement initiatives; participate in clinical trials related to wound healing innovations. Educate patients on wound care techniques, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and health coaching strategies to promote optimal recovery. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques during all procedures to maintain patient safety and confidentiality. Collaborate with hospital teams across inpatient units such as ICU, Neonatal ICU (NICU), PICU, or trauma centers to provide specialized wound management services. Assist in discharge planning by coordinating post-acute care or hospice & palliative medicine services as needed for complex cases. Experience Prior experience working in hospital medicine settings with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and data management. Experience in acute care environments such as emergency rooms, urgent care clinics, or medical-surgical units is preferred. Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate billing and documentation purposes. Background in infectious disease care, critical care including ventilator management, or post-operative wound management is advantageous. Familiarity with advanced procedures such as catheterization, airway management, or spinal taps enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive wound care services. Strong understanding of physiology principles related to tissue healing and patient assessment techniques across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as ACLS are a plus. Experience participating in clinical research or clinical trials related to wound healing or innovative treatment modalities is beneficial.
