A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description Job Summary Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient's health problems and serve in various settings as researchers, consultants, and patient advocates for individuals, families, groups, and communities. Performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and manages illness and disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Develops a plan of care within scope of practice of the physicians assistant utilizing written protocols to ensure quality patient care. Uses prescriptive authority, procedures, referrals, treatments, and theories in accordance with state/federal laws and regulations. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. Provides clinical leadership. Supports life long learning. Completes assigned goals. Will first assist in surgical cases. Specifications Experience #N/A Minimum Required 1 year clinical experience functioning in the Physician Assistant role in a primary care setting Preferred/Desired Education Minimum Required A graduate of a accredited physician assistant training program and has successfully completed the examination of the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. Preferred/Desired Training Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Minimum Required Computer literate. Preferred/Desired Licensure Minimum Required Current license by the state they practice. Eligible for or have certificate of fitness/prescription privileges. BLS Preferred/Desired
