Full-Time Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) About the opportunity We are seeking a motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a busy, established multidisciplinary Spine & Scoliosis practice in Central Austin . This APP will work closely with and support three busy Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians as part of a collaborative team focused on the evaluation and non-operative treatment of patients with spine, musculoskeletal, and related conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for an APP who enjoys a fast-paced outpatient environment, values teamwork, and is interested in developing expertise in PM&R, spine care, and musculoskeletal medicine . How you'll make an impact in this role As a PA/NP within our PM&R team, you will help improve patient access, support physician efficiency, and provide high-quality care throughout the patient's treatment journey.
Key responsibilities include:
Evaluate and manage new and established patients with spine and musculoskeletal conditions. Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform focused physical examinations. Review and interpret relevant imaging, diagnostic studies, and medical records. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising PM&R physicians. Provide follow-up care for patients undergoing conservative and interventional treatment. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, rehabilitation, and expectations for recovery. Order appropriate imaging, therapy, medications, and other diagnostic or therapeutic services within the scope of practice. Assist with coordinating care between PM&R physicians, spine surgeons, physical therapy, imaging, and other specialties. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with the physician team. Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation. Help improve patient access and continuity of care across a high-volume practice. Work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, medical assistants, schedulers, and other members of the multidisciplinary spine team. Registration:
Physician Assistant candidates: Current or eligible Texas Physician Assistant license Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program Current NCCPA certification DEA registration or eligibility to obtain registration, as applicable BLS certification preferred Nurse Practitioner candidates: Current or eligible Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing Current Texas Registered Nurse license, as applicable Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Appropriate national board certification DEA registration or eligibility to obtain registration, as applicable BLS certification preferred What additional qualifications we're seeking Previous experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, orthopedics, spine, neurosurgery, pain management, or musculoskeletal medicine is preferred. Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to manage a busy outpatient patient schedule effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with physicians and the broader clinical team. Commitment to providing an excellent patient experience. Interest in developing long-term expertise in spine and musculoskeletal care.
