Part-time Overview Our orthopedic spine practice is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support patient care in the clinic, operating room, and hospital. Working closely with the orthopedic spine surgeon, this provider will evaluate patients with spinal conditions, coordinate treatment plans, possibly assist in surgery, and provide hospital rounding and postoperative care. The ideal candidate has strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and an interest in delivering personalized, comprehensive spine care. Duties Conduct new patient evaluations and follow-up visits, including medical histories, physical examinations, and assessment of spine-related symptoms. Collaborate with the surgeon to develop and implement surgical and nonsurgical treatment plans. Order and review appropriate imaging, laboratory studies, and other diagnostic tests within the provider's scope of practice. Perform preoperative evaluations and coordinate surgical preparation and patient education. Provide surgical first assistance during orthopedic spine procedures, consistent with training and hospital privileges. Perform hospital rounds, assess postoperative progress, and coordinate care with the surgeon and hospital team. Support discharge planning, including medications, follow-up instructions, and coordination of services. Manage postoperative clinic visits, including wound assessment and monitoring recovery. Prescribe and manage medications within applicable practice requirements. Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical expectations, and recovery. Requirements Current Texas licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with appropriate Nurse Practitioner certification. Current national board certification. Orthopedic, spine, neurosurgical, or related surgical experience preferred. Surgical first-assist experience preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain hospital privileges for assigned clinical and surgical duties. For Nurse Practitioner applicants, appropriate preparation and qualifications for inpatient care and surgical first assistance. Appropriate prescribing authority and current DEA registration, as applicable to assigned duties. Current BLS certification; ACLS as required by the hospital. Strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently within the provider's scope while collaborating closely with the surgeon. Proficiency with electronic health records; Athenahealth experience is a plus. Schedule and Compensation This is a part-time position supporting clinic appointments, scheduled surgeries, and hospital rounding. Hours will be coordinated with the practice's clinical and surgical schedule. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

$70,800.00
