This is a part-time contracted position involving scheduled screening clinics of approximately four hours per day. The provider will independently conduct comprehensive skin examinations, utilize dermoscopy to evaluate lesions, identify findings concerning for skin cancer, perform indicated biopsies, and provide education and recommendations to participants. Providers are also responsible for reviewing pathology results from biopsies they perform, communicating results and recommended next steps directly to participants, and helping ensure appropriate follow-up of abnormal findings. This position is best suited for an APC with previous experience practicing in medical dermatology who is comfortable independently performing skin cancer examinations, dermoscopy, and common dermatologic biopsy procedures. Schedule Part-time contracted position Approximately 4 hours per scheduled screening day Screening clinics are conducted during Tuesday and Thursday afternoons Compensation $75-$100 per hour , depending on dermatology experience and qualifications. Additional clinical time required for pathology review and participant communication outside the scheduled screening clinic will be compensated at the provider's contracted hourly rate. Roles and Responsibilities The dermatology screening provider will be responsible for: Reviewing relevant dermatologic history and skin cancer risk factors. Performing comprehensive head-to-toe skin examinations. Evaluating participant-reported lesions and areas of concern. Using dermoscopy to evaluate suspicious pigmented and non-pigmented lesions. Identifying benign, premalignant, and suspicious skin lesions. Recognizing findings concerning for melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and other clinically significant dermatologic abnormalities. Documenting suspicious lesions, including location, size, and relevant clinical features. Educating participants regarding skin cancer risk, melanoma warning signs, self-skin examinations, sun protection, and recommended screening. Determining when lesions require biopsy based on clinical assessment. Performing appropriate shave and punch biopsies. Obtaining appropriate consent and completing procedural time-outs. Administering local anesthetic and providing appropriate hemostasis and wound care. Obtaining clinical photographs of lesions when required by program protocol. Ensuring biopsy specimens are appropriately documented and submitted for pathology. Providing biopsy aftercare and wound-care instructions. Reviewing finalized pathology reports. Communicating pathology results directly to participants. Explaining the significance of pathology findings and recommended next steps. Identifying participants requiring additional dermatologic evaluation or treatment. Providing appropriate referrals and follow-up recommendations. Documenting pathology review, participant communication, and final recommendations. Collaborating with the broader cancer screening team to ensure appropriate follow-up and continuity of care. Required Qualifications Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license permitting practice in Utah. Minimum of 2 years of dermatology-specific clinical experience. Previous experience conducting comprehensive or total-body skin examinations. Demonstrated competency in dermoscopy. Experience evaluating lesions for possible skin malignancy. Experience identifying lesions appropriate for biopsy. Demonstrated competency performing shave and punch biopsies. Experience reviewing dermatopathology results. Ability to communicate clinical and pathology findings directly to patients. Ability to independently provide appropriate follow-up recommendations based on examination and pathology findings. Strong clinical documentation and patient communication skills. General primary care experience alone does not fulfill the dermatology experience requirement for this position. Preferred Qualifications Experience practicing in a medical dermatology clinic. More than two years of dermatology-specific practice experience. Significant experience with skin cancer screening and early detection. Experience evaluating melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, actinic keratoses, atypical nevi, and other common dermatologic lesions. Extensive experience performing dermatologic biopsies. Experience working with occupational populations, cancer screening programs, preventive health programs, or similar clinical screening initiatives. Experience providing patient education related to skin cancer prevention and self-examination.

Pay:

Are you currently comfortable independently determining when a suspicious skin lesion requires biopsy and performing the biopsy? Do you have experience independently reviewing dermatopathology reports and communicating pathology results and follow-up recommendations directly to patients?
