Medical Director Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and clinically skilled Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) —Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)—to join our well-established orthopedic team in Forest, Virginia . No weekends, no rounding, no taking call, no nights and no holidays! We offer a competitive salary (up to 220K with guaranteed bonus), medical benefits paid 100%, 401k, 1 month PTO and annual CME reimbursement. The APP will provide comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with our orthopedic physicians, with responsibilities spanning new patient evaluations, established patient follow-up, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, perioperative care, and postoperative management . The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing patient-centered orthopedic care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with experienced orthopedic surgeons and clinical staff while developing long-term relationships with patients. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Care Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations for new and established orthopedic patients. Evaluate and manage common orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including: Osteoarthritis Sports and activity-related injuries Tendon and ligament injuries Fractures and other musculoskeletal injuries Joint pain Back and neck complaints Soft-tissue conditions Order, interpret, and review appropriate diagnostic studies, including X-rays, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and laboratory testing. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and supervising/collaborating physicians as appropriate. Prescribe medications and other therapies within the provider's scope of practice and applicable Virginia regulations. Perform appropriate office-based procedures and injections based on training, credentialing, and practice protocols. Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation, activity modification, medications, and prevention of further injury. Recognize conditions requiring surgical intervention or physician consultation and coordinate appropriate referral. Clinic Operations Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records. Complete documentation, orders, prescriptions, referrals, and patient communications. Communicate effectively with orthopedic physicians, physical therapists, nurses, medical assistants, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives. Follow practice policies, clinical protocols, and applicable federal and Virginia requirements. Maintain professional knowledge through continuing medical education and ongoing orthopedic education. Qualifications Required Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Current, unrestricted Virginia PA or NP license. Current national certification appropriate to the provider's profession. Excellent clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Preferred Previous experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, emergency medicine, or pain management. Experience performing joint, tendon, bursa, or other musculoskeletal injections. Familiarity with orthopedic imaging and postoperative care. Experience working in a high-volume outpatient clinical environment. New graduates with strong orthopedic interest may be considered depending on clinical training and practice needs.
