Job Description

Alumni Healthcare Staffing is seeking a General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider for a locum tenens assignment in Vermont. In this role, you will support surgeons with pre- and post-operative patient care, assist in the OR as credentialed, perform histories and physicals, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage treatment plans. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensure accurate documentation, and follow hospital protocols. This role offers exposure to diverse surgical cases, flexible locum scheduling, and the opportunity to positively impact patient care in a collaborative setting. Responsibilities Provide pre- and post-operative care for general surgery patients Assist surgeons in the operating room as credentialed Conduct histories and physical examinations Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs Develop and manage evidence-based treatment plans Document all patient encounters accurately in the medical record Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and ancillary staff on patient care Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards Participate in care coordination and discharge planning Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and recovery Required Skills General surgery patient assessment Perioperative management Operating room first assist skills (as credentialed) Ordering and interpreting labs and imaging Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Acute care and emergency stabilization Care coordination and discharge planning Patient and family education Knowledge of hospital policies and compliance Interdisciplinary team collaboration
