Job Description
We areseeking Physician Coding Educators to support professional fee coding accuracy, physician education, and documentation improvement initiatives in a remote consultant capacity. This role focuses on delivering targeted education to physicians and coding staff, conducting chart reviews and coding audits, and identifying documentation gaps across ASC, surgical, and outpatient environments. The educator will analyze coding trends, provide actionable feedback, and partner with leadership to improve compliance and consistency. Candidates must be comfortable engaging directly with physicians, translating audit findings into education, and supporting audit readiness. Core ResponsibilitiesPhysician & Coding Education

- Deliver targeted education to physicians and coding staff with a focus on Professional Fee coding (ASC, surgical, outpatient settings)
- Facilitate one-on-one and group training sessions; clearly explain complex coding and documentation concepts to clinical audiences
- Serve as a subject matter expert for provider questions related to documentation standards, audit findings, and coding requirements.
- Perform focused coding audits and in-depth chart reviews to assess coding accuracy and identify documentation opportunities
- Analyze coding trends, variances, and risk areas; collaborate with leadership to develop education plans addressing identified gaps
- Support audit readiness and ongoing coding quality initiatives.
- Promote consistent, compliant documentation practices across providers and coding teams
- Implement education strategies to reduce variation and strengthen documentation quality
- Partner with physician coding leadership to ensure education aligns with compliance standards and organizational expectations
Requirements:
CPC (AAPC) or CCS or CCS-P (AHIMA) certification required3+ years experience in Professional Fee coding across physician, ASC, surgical, or outpatient settingsExperience with physician-facing education and ability to deliver 1:1 and group trainingExperience conducting chart reviews, coding audits, and documentation accuracy validationKnowledge of documentation standards, compliance requirements, and audit readiness practicesAbility to analyze coding trends, variances, and risk areas and translate into education plansProficiency in communicating with physicians, clinical staff, and revenue cycle stakeholdersAbility to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating cross-functionallyPreferred Requirements:
Experience with Critical Care coding (NICU, PICU, SICU, CCU)CDEO or CDIP certificationBachelor's degreeExperience with enterprise-wide coding education or audit programsExperience supporting documentation improvement initiativesContract to start for 6 months. Preferred Qualifications- CDEO or CDIP certification
