Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The OB/GYN will diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, especially those affecting the reproductive system and the process of childbirth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Uphold and support the philosophies, objectives and policies of CHSI. 2. Care for and treat women during prenatal, natal and post-natal periods. 3. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients. 4. Treat diseases of female organs. 5. Monitor patients' condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary. 6. Perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients' health and deliver babies safely. 7. Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. 8. Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient. 9. Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results. 10. Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. 11. Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary. 12. Consult with, or provide consulting services to, other physicians. 13. Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. 14. Follow infectious materials procedures, CHSI patient care procedures and clinic policies. 15. Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. 16. Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time. 17. Training and/or teaching medical students or mid-level provider students such as Nurse Practitioners; providing constructive feedback on student progress as needed. 18. Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the assigned Nurse Practitioner(s)/Physician Assistant(s) in the performance of their clinical duties and responsibilities per existing protocols.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and negotiate with co-workers, management, vendors and others as necessary. Possesses strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. Computer literate with working knowledge of various computer software that support administrative systems (i.e. Excel, Word etc.) and accounting software. Detail oriented. Physical requirements include considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of medicine recognized by the California Board of Medical Examiners Fluency in English required Fluency in Spanish desirable Five years' work experience a Physician and Two years in management required Must be Board Certified or Board eligible Must hold a current license to practice medicine in the State of California Must also have a current DEA certificate BLS Certification required and ACLS Certified preferred Must maintain continuing medical education requirements for licensure
