Job Details:
Psychiatric Evaluation, Diagnosis & Treatment Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments. Determine clinical diagnoses using DSM criteria and formulate individualized treatment plans. Provide medication evaluation and ongoing pharmacological management. Monitor treatment response, medication adherence, laboratory data, and potential side effects. Conduct suicide risk assessments, crisis evaluations, and safety planning. All initial medication evaluations to be done in-person Documentation, Compliance & Quality Assurance Complete clinical documentation, prescriptions, and progress notes in accordance with LACDMH and Medi-Cal standards. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, state medical board regulations, and County policy. Assist in chart audits, quality-improvement activities, and corrective action plans when needed. Utilize outcome measures and evidence-based guidelines to support clinical decision-making. Clinical Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Teamwork Work closely with clinicians and collaboratively with nurses, case managers, peers, and supervisory staff to coordinate client care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, to provide guidance on complex clinical issues, diagnostic clarification, and treatment strategies. Provide guidance specifically to any nursing staff regarding medication concerns when needed. Collaborate with therapists regarding psychotherapy referrals and integrated care approaches, Care Coordination & System Navigation Coordinate care with hospitals, primary care providers, substance use treatment programs, urgent care centers, and crisis response teams. Support transitions of care, including post-discharge follow-up and linkage to higher or lower levels of care as clinically indicated. Provide consultation regarding LPS considerations, including involuntary holds and criteria for hospitalization. Visits will be a combination of field-based visits with a rounding partner or team, in-office visits with the team bringing the patient in, and telehealth visits with the MD in the office and the patient with the team in the field. The type of visit will be based on patients' needs and staff availability.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Interest and commitment in community psychiatry History of field-rounding or forensic psychiatry experience Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong time management skills Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to patient advocacy Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with the clients, department staff and community agencies Ability to work independently with attention to detail Ability to follow through on instructions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently in a timely manner Proficiency in computer skills: email, word, basic excel, past EMR experience
