Job Description
Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE) Medical Director San Francisco VA Health Care System About the
Role:
The San Francisco VA Health Care System is seeking an innovative and compassionate physician leader to serve as the Medical Director for the Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE) program. This position focuses on delivering hospital-level care to older Veterans in their home environments, supporting early discharge, reducing hospitalizations, and improving overall outcomes.Location:
San Francisco Salary:
$240,000- $335,000
Work Schedule:
Monday- Friday, 8:00am
- 4:30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight for the MACE program
- Direct and support an interdisciplinary team delivering acute care in the home
- Guide program development, quality initiatives, and process improvement
- Collaborate with inpatient, outpatient, CLC, HBPC, and emergency teams
- Ensure regulatory and VA compliance in clinical operations
- Apply geriatric care principles to enhance patient safety and recovery
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (Geriatrics preferred)
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Experience with geriatrics, acute care, or home-based care preferred
- Leadership experience a plus
