Duties Provide one-on-one support to the student during classroom activities, therapy sessions, and community outings to ensure safety and engagement Assist with daily routines such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility needs using physical assistance techniques when necessary Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) by supporting curriculum delivery in literacy, math, and other core subjects aligned with early childhood education standards Use communication skills including American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate effective interaction and understanding for students with communication challenges Manage behavior by applying positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques tailored for students with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioral disorders Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and adapt lesson plans that meet each student's unique needs Handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for the student Skills Experience working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities in educational or caregiving settings Knowledge of special education practices, including classroom management and curriculum development for students with disabilities Proficiency in Deaf education methods and American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills Understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education standards Ability to support students with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges using appropriate strategies Strong communication and writing skills to document progress and coordinate with team members effectively Experience supporting classroom activities in private or special education settings, including behavior management for students with special needs Physical ability to provide necessary assistance for mobility and daily routines in a safe manner Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines related to educational equity and support for all learners This paid position is ideal for compassionate individuals eager to empower young learners through dedicated support.
