Ophthalmology Front Desk Coordinator Cai Retina Sunnyvale, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $20 - $23 an hour 9 hours ago Benefits Free parking Paid training Paid time off On-the-job training Employee discount Paid orientation Qualifications Mandarin Spanish Ophthalmology Medical administrative support Medical billing Full Job Description Cai Retina is a new, independent retina practice in Sunnyvale founded by a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon. We're building a patient-first practice from the ground up — one where care isn't rushed and patients are genuinely known — and we're looking for our very first team member to help build it with us.
Why this role is different:
This isn't a typical front desk job at a large group. You'll work directly with the physician-owner, see how a practice actually runs end to end, and have real input as our systems and processes take shape. You'll get exposure to scheduling, insurance and billing, patient care coordination, and clinic operations — far more breadth than a front desk role usually offers. If you're pre-med, considering healthcare administration, or just want to understand how a medical practice works from the inside, this is a rare seat to have early. What you'll do: Greet patients and manage a busy front desk/phone line Verify insurance eligibility and benefits Schedule and coordinate visits, referrals, and prior authorizations Pitch in wherever needed as we grow — this is a "doing it all" role for someone who likes variety and doesn't wait to be told what to do What we're looking for: Reliable, consistent, and able to learn new systems quickly Healthcare front-desk or medical office experience preferred; prior experience in an ophthalmology or optometry clinic a strong plus Comfortable with computers/EHR systems (we use DrChrono) Clear communicator, both with patients and in writing Bilingual (Mandarin or Spanish) a plus Discretion with sensitive patient information A team-player mindset — comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small, growing office
