Position Summary:

AUACOM presents an opportunity to join acollaborative community of basic scientists and physicians dedicated to shaping the physicians of tomorrow. The successful candidate willjoin the Department of Pathology, which is primarily engaged in teaching activities, though scientific and medical education research isstrongly encouraged. The ideal candidate will be a team player, open to feedback, and possess excellent written and verbal communicationskills. They should have a strong service record and a demonstrated history of excellence in teaching Pathology. Required qualificationsinclude a M.D., or equivalent and completed residency in Pathology. Candidates with additional qualifications or experience in medicaleducation (e.g., a master's degree, fellowship, and clinical experience) and clear evidence of its application in instructional practice areof particular interest. This position requires a solid understanding of the U.S. MD curriculum and the USMLE examination requirements.

Candidates must also demonstrate experience working in-and fostering-a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or a strongcommitment to doing so as a faculty member at AUA. Responsibilities:

As is directed by the Executive Dean of BasicSciences, or the Chair of the Department of Pathology 1. Deliver high-quality, innovative teaching in pathology, with a focus onclinically relevant pathophysiology and disease. 2. Develop and deliver instructional content using evidence-based pedagogicalmethods, including active learning techniques in lectures, tutorials, team-based learning (TBL), and small group sessions. 3.Formulate clear learning outcomes that align with assessments, small group activities, and other active learning sessions. 4. Designintegrated small group activities, TBLs, and tutorials that incorporate pathology with related disciplines in a system-based curriculum,including anatomy, biochemistry, molecular science, pathology, microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology. 5. Provide academicadvising to assigned students, guiding them toward their educational goals using professional judgment and knowledge of physiology, teachingstrategies, and student needs. 6. Collaborate with faculty from basic and clinical sciences to support interdisciplinary integrationof pathology and pathophysiology within system-based courses. 7. Actively contribute to the development of formative and summativeassessments, ensuring timely submission and alignment with course objectives. 8. Facilitate integrated small group sessions andtutorials involving interdisciplinary content. 9. Incorporate student feedback to continuously improve teaching effectiveness. 10. Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of courses and curricula. 11. Provide mentorship, guidance, andacademic support to students. 12. Engage in academic program activities and curriculum development. 13. Participate ineducational programs within the department. 14. Assist with academic programming within the College of Medicine, as needed. 15. Conduct data collection or research assignments as requested. 16. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, campusevents, and academic activities. 17. Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of pathology. 18. Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of a faculty member, as assigned by the Executive Dean,Department Chair, or other authorized personnel.

Service to the university:

20. Participate in facultymeetings and academic planning. 21. Engage in faculty development programs. 22. Serve on institutional committees in eitheran appointed or elected capacity. 23. Contribute to community outreach initiatives organized by the university.

Research:

24. Attend scientific meetings at least once a year in one's field of specialization or medicaleducation.

Qualifications and essential requirements:

25. A M.D., or equivalent degree in pathology. 26. Prior teaching experience in a medical school in the US, Canada, UK, or Caribbean is preferred. 27. For appointment at theAssistant Professor level: minimum of three years teaching experience in pre-clinical medical education. 28.

For AssociateProfessor:

minimum of five years teaching experience in pre-clinical medical education. 29. Strong understanding of USMLEpathology/pathophysiology content. 30. Familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices and educational technology. 31.Commitment to the mission and diversity of the university. 32. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students andcolleagues. 33. Cultural competence and professionalism in all interactions. 34. Ability to support and mentor remediatingstudents. 35. Strong organizational and time management skills. 36. Capacity to work effectively both independently and inteams. 37. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-pressure academic environment. 38. Commitment to ongoingscholarly development and continuing education.

Skills:

39. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularlyPowerPoint and Word. 40. Experience with audience response systems is an advantage.
