Fort Myers, Florida, Primary Care Physician Assistant Job Clinical Role:

  • Seeking a board certified physician assistant
  • Must have post-training clinical experience; no new graduates
  • Must have an active, unrestricted Florida physician assistant license and appropriate national certification
  • Reason for need: new location
  • Full-time, on-site opportunity
  • Work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Typical patient volume: approximately 1-5 patients per day, with potential growth as the location develops
  • Provide care to patients with sickle cell disease in an outpatient clinic and infusion setting
  • Work with a physician, RN, and MA
  • Conduct patient evaluations, physical examinations, medication reviews, and ongoing follow-up
  • Collaborate with the physician to manage acute symptoms and complex chronic conditions
  • Evaluate patients with pain, dehydration, anemia-related symptoms, infection concerns, and medication complications
  • Order and review laboratory testing and diagnostic studies
  • Prescribe and manage medications within scope of practice, including controlled medications when appropriately authorized
  • Support IV hydration, medication infusions, and other outpatient treatments
  • Assess patients before treatment, monitor treatment response, and address adverse reactions or changes in condition
  • Peripheral IV and implanted-port access competency required, or willingness to complete competency validation before performing independently
  • Coordinate referrals and educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
  • During lower-volume periods, assist with patient outreach, overdue follow-ups, care coordination, documentation, and practice development
  • Help maintain clinical supplies, emergency equipment readiness, and safe daily clinic operations
  • Participate in occasional community outreach events
  • Some weekend needs, schedule adjustments, and participation in established after-hours response procedures may apply
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
