Fort Pierce, Florida, Primary Care Physician Assistant Job Clinical Role:

- Seeking a board certified physician assistant
- Must have post-training clinical experience; no new graduates
- Must have an active, unrestricted Florida physician assistant license and appropriate national certification
- Reason for need: new location
- Full-time, on-site opportunity
- Work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Typical patient volume: approximately 1-5 patients per day, with potential growth as the location develops
- Provide care to patients with sickle cell disease in an outpatient clinic and infusion setting
- Work with a physician, RN, and MA
- Conduct patient evaluations, physical examinations, medication reviews, and ongoing follow-up
- Collaborate with the physician to manage acute symptoms and complex chronic conditions
- Evaluate patients with pain, dehydration, anemia-related symptoms, infection concerns, and medication complications
- Order and review laboratory testing and diagnostic studies
- Prescribe and manage medications within scope of practice, including controlled medications when appropriately authorized
- Support IV hydration, medication infusions, and other outpatient treatments
- Assess patients before treatment, monitor treatment response, and address adverse reactions or changes in condition
- Peripheral IV and implanted-port access competency required, or willingness to complete competency validation before performing independently
- Coordinate referrals and educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
- During lower-volume periods, assist with patient outreach, overdue follow-ups, care coordination, documentation, and practice development
- Help maintain clinical supplies, emergency equipment readiness, and safe daily clinic operations
- Participate in occasional community outreach events
- Some weekend needs, schedule adjustments, and participation in established after-hours response procedures may apply
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
