Duties and Responsibilities Participates in the development of principles and processes to guide the strengthening of academic Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health (OBGYN) in the areas including competency-based medical education, premedical, undergraduate medical education (i.e., medical student), and graduate medical education (GME) program evaluation, research, and operations. Assumes potential leadership roles as requested, which may include serving as Department Chair for OBGYN and in a leadership role in an affiliated facultymedical group. Participates in strategic planning and implementation at the school level relevant to the strengthening of the department of OBGYN and collaborate with Hawai'i Pacific Health (HPH), Hawai'i Pacific Health Medical Group (HPHMG), the Queen's University Medical Group (QUMG), Queen's Health Systems (QHS), and other JABSOM clinical affiliates, providing a unique academic clinical faculty and clinician scientist perspective. Participates in building women's health-focused research programs, which includes quality improvement, patient safety, and patient outcomes research, epidemiological research clinical, and translational research, and clinical trials Assists with the maintenance of Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for OBGYN and subspecialty education based across JABSOM clinical affiliates. Engages in the training of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Serves as a role model and mentor to all departmental junior faculty to support their career development and advancement. Fosters a culture of inclusivity, respect, team work, accountability, and faculty well-being. Serves on JABSOM and University and other relevant local, regional, national or international committees. Promotes ongoing professional growth and development by participating in continuing medical education, leadership training, professional conferences, and other learning opportunities relevant to the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and academic healthcare leadership. Engages in continuous learning through literature reviews, active participation in in-service meetings and workshops, and system-wide educational initiatives to stay current with academic best practices. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of the University of Hawai'i and JABSOM Conducts scholarly activity or research. Professor Minimum Qualifications MD degree or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school. Minimum of four years at the rank of Associate Professor at an accredited medical school. Maintaining certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and/or ABOG subspecialty. Eligible for or currently holds a Medical license. Evidence of excellence in teaching, national or international recognition as a scholar, and effective medical education and/or clinical program administration. Minimum of 10 years of extensive prior academic clinical experience in general Obstetrics and Gynecology and/or subspecialities. Evidence of excellent patient care in a collaborative environment. Evidence of excellent team building and interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience functioning in a complex system of multiple organizations and stakeholders. Familiarity with LCME and ACGME requirements. Professor Desirable Qualifications Administration (MHA), or a related field, demonstrating formal training in organizational leadership, financial management, healthcare operations, and strategic planning. Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in academic healthcare administration, medical management, or equivalent role. Departmental or division leadership experience in an academic medical center, with evidence of mentoring faculty. Experience in building a comprehensive quality agenda. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor faculty. Development of innovative medical education courses or curricula, clinical programs, research programs, or community-based programs to meet the needs of populations underserved by general or subspecialty obstetricians-gynecologists. Leadership in preparing for LCME or ACGME accreditation. Additional preparation in Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Patient Experience or Health Systems Leadership is highly desirable. Completion of course work or certification in Clinical Leadership or Physician Executive Development is an asset. Proven experience in faculty development, including teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, or fellows.
