Job Description

Description Job Summary The Emergency Department Physician is responsible for providing timely, compassionate, and high-quality emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department. The physician evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with a broad range of medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions, including life-threatening emergencies. The physician works collaboratively with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, hospital personnel, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care. Essential Job Functions
  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients of all ages within the physician's qualifications and privileges.
  • Assess and stabilize patients experiencing acute illness, injury, trauma, or life-threatening conditions.
  • Obtain and document accurate medical histories, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient dispositions in the electronic medical record.
  • Order, interpret, and appropriately utilize laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform procedures within the physician's training, competency, and approved clinical privileges.
  • Initiate and participate in emergency resuscitation, cardiac arrest response, trauma care, and other emergency interventions as appropriate.
  • Determine appropriate patient disposition, including discharge, admission, transfer, or referral to a higher level of care.
  • Coordinate patient transfers and communicate with receiving facilities and physicians when services beyond the hospital's capabilities are required.
  • Provide consultation and collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Emergency Department Nurse Practitioners and other advanced practice providers, as applicable, in accordance with hospital policy and applicable law.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete medical records, including discharge instructions, prescriptions, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Participate in quality improvement, peer review, patient safety initiatives, and continuing medical education.
  • Comply with hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, applicable laws and regulations, and established standards of care.
  • Participate in Emergency Department call coverage and scheduled shifts as assigned.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position and physician's qualifications as assigned. Requirements
  • Current license to practice medicine as a physician in the state of Idaho.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and NRP certification required.
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction.
  • Controlled Substance Certificate from the Borad of Pharmacy.
  • Current PALS certification preferred, required for actively practicing Obstetrics.
  • Must maintain medical staff privileges with Syringa Hospital as approved by the medical staff and board of trustees.
