Expected 12-month assignment with a possible 12-month extension About the Opportunity We are seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive care to adult patients at a federal correctional facility in Marion, Illinois. In this role, you will evaluate and treat acute and chronic conditions, manage ongoing care, and collaborate with facility healthcare staff in a secure clinical environment. The anticipated two-day weekday schedule offers an opportunity for physicians seeking part-time clinical work. Schedule and Work Setting Typically two onsite weekdays per week, with approximately 10 clinical hours per scheduled day Scheduled Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays A 30-minute unpaid meal period each scheduled day Fully onsite; no remote or telehealth option Scheduling may change based on facility needs. Hours are estimated and not guaranteed. Assignment duration and any extension depend on facility requirements and contract funding. What You'll Do Perform physical examinations and document comprehensive medical and social histories. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions. Order and review laboratory studies and diagnostic tests. Prescribe and manage medications within approved clinical privileges. Develop treatment and follow-up plans, including referrals to specialists and outside hospitals when medically necessary. Coordinate patient care with facility clinical and administrative staff. Complete electronic medical records by the end of each workday and prepare clinical reports, evaluations, and treatment recommendations. Follow applicable federal regulations, privacy requirements, accepted medical standards, and facility policies, including safety, security, and professional-conduct requirements. Required Qualifications MD or DO degree Current, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States Ability to meet facility medical credentialing and privileging requirements Ability to pass a federal Public Trust background investigation and correctional-facility security screening Ability to meet applicable federal residency and facility-access requirements Successful completion of tuberculosis and communicable-disease screening Strong clinical judgment and ability to practice independently Proficiency with electronic medical records and strong documentation and communication skills Ability to provide professional care to an adult correctional patient population Preferred Qualifications Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Experience in primary care, correctional health, institutional healthcare, or care for underserved populations Current DEA registration Current BLS or ACLS certification Experience working in a secure clinical environment

Pay:

$145.00 - $160.00 per hour
