Job Description

Description . This on-site, contract position offers a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced medical practice environment. As a Locum MD/DO in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, you will perform complex surgical procedures, manage patient care from admission through recovery, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and contribute to the practice's commitment to excellence in surgical care within the medical practice industry. Responsibilities Perform cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures with a high level of precision and clinical judgment Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including pre-operative assessments and diagnostic reviews Develop and implement individualized surgical treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and other surgical team members Manage post-operative care, monitor patient recovery, and address any complications promptly Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the heart, lungs, chest wall, and vascular system Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient medical records complying with all regulatory standards Provide emergency surgical intervention when required for acute or life-threatening conditions Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, surgical options, and recovery expectations Participate in clinical rounds, case conferences, and continuous quality improvement initiatives Stay current with the latest advancements in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical techniques and technologies Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and hospital policies Requirements Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical institution Board certification or active board eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Vascular Surgery Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Illinois Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Vascular Surgery Minimum of 2-3 years of surgical experience at an Associate level, including live surgical cases in cardiothoracic or vascular procedures Strong proficiency in both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques Excellent diagnostic, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced healthcare environment Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach to care Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical ethics, safety, and quality Ability to work flexible on-site schedules as required by the contract assignment
