Section Chief, Microbiology/Immunology Niazee College of Osteopathic Medicine (NCOM) is a mission-driven, nonprofitosteopathic medical school advancing a community-centered, whole-person approach to healthcare education. The Section Chief ofMicrobiology/Immunology provides academic, administrative, and educational leadership for microbiology and immunology instruction acrossall four (4) years of the NCOM curriculum. The Section Chief ensures microbiology and immunology content is vertically integrated,clinically relevant, student-centered, and aligned with NCOM's mission and COCA accreditation standards. This role supports NCOM'scommitment to educating osteopathic physicians with a strong foundation in infectious diseases, host defense mechanisms, and immune systemfunction essential to clinical reasoning, disease prevention, and patient care. The Section Chief plays a critical role in curriculumdevelopment/delivery, faculty oversight, instructional quality, student assessment, accreditation alignment, and scholarly activity,contributing directly to academic excellence and institutional readiness. To succeed as the Section Chief, Microbiology/Immunology, you should have:
Knowledge, Skill and Experience Terminal Degree:
PhD, DO, MD, or equivalent in Microbiology, Immunology, or related discipline Minimum of three (3) years ofexperience in academic medicine or higher education (osteopathic preferred) Demonstrated experience teaching microbiology and/orimmunology in a medical or health sciences program Knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, accreditation, and educationalresearch Demonstrated excellence in modern instructional methods (TBL, PBL, flipped classroom) Competence in research andscholarly activity Prior leadership experience preferred

Analyticalskills Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills Superior decision-making ability Strongorganizational skills Flexibility and adaptability Ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships Ability towork in a dynamic, evolving academic environment Ability to collaborate and lead within interdisciplinary teams Basiccomputer & technology skills Your responsibilities as the Section Chief, Microbiology/Immunology willinclude: Actively promote participation of microbiology and immunology faculty in the teaching of osteopathic medicalstudents at all levels Provide leadership and oversight for microbiology, immunology, and related foundational science instructionas defined by the curriculum Ensure microbiology and immunology courses are well organized, educationally rigorous, and aligned withdefined learning objectives and outcomes Coordinate with the Chair of Foundational Sciences to ensure integration with pathology,pharmacology, biochemistry/physiology, and clinical sciences Participate in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement ofthe integrated curriculum Ensure content reflects current scientific knowledge and clinically relevant applications Promoteintegration of infectious disease principles, host-pathogen interactions, and immune response mechanisms Support incorporation ofantimicrobial principles in coordination with pharmacology and clinical sciences Participate in evaluation and assessment processesand assign final grades Monitor student performance and provide academic support or intervention when necessary Recruit,mentor, and evaluate microbiology and immunology faculty Promote faculty development and scholarly activity within themicrobiology/immunology disciplines Ensure compliance with COCA accreditation standards and institutional policies Serve oninstitutional committees as assigned Establish and maintain professional relationships with academic peers and relevant professionalorganizations About Us At the Niazee College of Osteopathic Medicine (NCOM) , we're building atransformational, community-centered medical school grounded in osteopathic principles and whole-person care.
