Job Summary The University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our Ashland, KY practice. This position supports the department's mission of clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity, with opportunities for professional growth within a comprehensive academic medical center. We are seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmology faculty to join our group of physicians that are committed to excellence in clinical care, instruction, scholarly activity and professional development. The successful candidate must have completed an Ophthalmology residency.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing direct patient care
• Developing academic pursuits in the areas of education and research The UK College of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology is a strong, multidisciplinary team of more than 180 people dedicated to advancing Kentucky health care together. Our department encompasses 37 faculty members, 122 staff members and 24 learners. Each year, providers in the department see 140,000+ patient visits at 17 clinical sites. The department trains 24 residents and fellows across 8 accredited programs, while also contributing to the education of medical students and graduate trainees. Ashland is a historic river city located along the southern bank of the Ohio River in northeastern Kentucky. It sits near the borders of Ohio and West Virginia, forming a major part of the Huntington-Ashland metropolitan area. Ashland is a charming historic town, rich in its industrial history as an iron and steel center, its vibrant downtown arts scene and its scenic location along the Ohio River. Huntington, WV and Charleston, WV are the larger cities closest to Ashland with both being an hour or less in distance. Both cities provide a vibrant downtown experience, experiences in the arts and a doorway to the Appalachian foothills with multiple recreational activities.
