Job Description
Description This is a contract, on-site position designed for physicians who thrive in fast-paced emergency settings and are committed to delivering high-quality patient care. As a Locum Emergency Medicine Physician, you will play a vital role in our department, providing immediate medical attention to patients with acute illnesses or injuries. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment plans. This role is ideal for an associate-level physician looking to expand their clinical experience in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility through contract-based work. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of conditions. Perform thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation. Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including prescribing medications and coordinating follow-up care. Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated and efficient patient management. Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with medical and legal standards. Communicate clearly with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions. Respond to emergency situations promptly and make critical decisions under pressure. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and stay updated on the latest emergency medicine protocols. Requirements Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution. Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine is strongly preferred. Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state (or ability to obtain one prior to start). Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine. Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification. Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members. Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required in a 24/7 emergency department.
