Job Description:
We are actively seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician (MD/DO) for a Medical Director Addiction Medicine locums opportunity in Rockland, Maine . This is an outpatient addiction treatment setting offering a flexible weekly schedule and leadership oversight responsibilities, while still maintaining direct patient care involvement. Physicians with experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), Suboxone, Methadone, or substance use disorder management are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Highlights:

      Setting:
      Outpatient Addiction Treatment Center
        Role:
        Medical Director with clinical responsibilities
          Schedule:
          Flexible (8 12 hours per week)
          • Split across 2 3 days (3 4 hour shifts)
          • 3-month initial contract with strong extension potential
          • Phone availability for clinical questions (no required onsite call)
          • Supervising physician for 1 2
          APPs Clinical Responsibilities:
          • Provide medical oversight for addiction treatment services
          • Supervise and collaborate with onsite APPs
          • Conduct admission and readmission physicals
          • Manage and adjust MAT protocols
          • Review labs and medication dosing plans
          • Ensure compliance with state and federal addiction treatment regulations
          • Participate in clinical quality discussions and program oversight This role combines leadership with hands-on addiction medicine practice in a structured outpatient environment.
          Patient Population:
          • Adult substance use disorder patients
          • MAT-focused treatment model
          • Structured outpatient program
          Requirements:
          • MD or DO
          • Board Certified or Board Eligible
          • Active DEA
          • BLS certification
          • Experience in addiction medicine or substance abuse treatment
          • Comfortable supervising APPs Addiction Medicine fellowship or boarded status in Addiction Medicine is preferred but not required.
