Job Description
Job Overview The hospitalist is a member of the health care team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The scope of practice of each physician is defined through the Fairview's Credentialing and Privileging Committees. The role of the hospitalist is to assess, maintain, and improve the health condition of the patients assigned to the hospitalist service and to provide consultation to other subspecialty services. Responsibilities Provides evaluation and treatment of patients appropriate to the Hospitalist Service. Completes comprehensive health and physical evaluation of patient Completes differential diagnosis of patient's condition Formulates patient evaluation plan Formulates, implements, and monitors treatment plan Provides consultation services to other subspecialty services. Manages patient care through appropriate use of available resources Balances the appropriate utilization of lab and x-ray procedures with quality medical care Provides timely and appropriate subspecialty consultation Integrates discharge planning throughout the patient's stay Responsible to provide or coordinate communication between all parties involved in providing care to the patient. Assures that timely, relevant, and appropriate information is provided to hospitalist staff, consultants, referring physicians, hospital staff, patients, and families. Contributes to effective and efficient practice management and responsibilities Provides staffing support to the hospitalist service through all hours of service (24/7/365) Supports hospitalist service through timely documentation of the medical record and maintains adequate knowledge of billing policies to support billing for professional services Meets workload standards for department Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency training program Board Certified/Board Prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges Benefit Overview Fairview offers a generous benefit package, including but not limited to medical, dental, visionplans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, PTO and Sick and Safe Time, CME, tuition reimbursement, retirement, and more! Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Positions withthe same min/max are flat rate jobs based on 40 hours/week. Compensation plans based on production can allow for higher pay than the range posted.
