Job Description
Provides emotional support, education, and coping strategies to help children and families navigate medical experiences. Utilize developmentally appropriate play, preparation, and therapeutic interventions to reduce stress and promote understanding of hospitalization and medical procedures. Provides a variety of direct and indirect patient care, unit, and environmental tasks.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provides developmentally appropriate Child Life services addressing the impact of illness, injury, and hospitalization on children and families.
- Designs and implements group activities that promote coping and normalization.
- Plans and delivers individualized interventions based on healthcare experiences.
- Supports families in understanding hospital procedures and maintaining their parenting role during hospitalization.
- Maintains accurate records, statistics, schedules, and documentation.
