Job Description

Optum seeks a Primary Care Physician Resident to deliver supervised, patient-centered care in an innovative, data-driven environment. You'll perform histories and physicals, develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans, order and interpret labs and imaging, and document in the EHR. Working closely with attending physicians and an interdisciplinary team, you'll apply evidence-based guidelines, participate in population health and quality improvement projects, and support preventive and chronic disease management. Residents engage in structured teaching, mentorship, and ongoing feedback to build clinical excellence and leadership skills within a mission-driven, highly regulated healthcare system. Responsibilities Provide supervised primary care to diverse patient populations Conduct histories, physical exams, and develop care plans Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs Document encounters in the EHR accurately and timely Collaborate with attending physicians and care teams Participate in quality improvement and population health initiatives Use data and evidence-based guidelines to inform care Engage in clinical conferences, teaching, and simulations Educate patients on prevention and chronic disease management Maintain compliance with regulatory and institutional policies Required Skills Primary care medicine History and physical examination Clinical decision-making EHR documentation Diagnostic test interpretation Chronic disease management Evidence-based medicine Population health and quality improvement Patient education and counseling Interdisciplinary team collaboration
