The Opportunity We are seeking a Board Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist to provide part-time, on-site medical physics and dosimetry support to the Radiation Oncology Service at the VA Northport Medical Center, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY 11768. Schedule & Term 3 FTE approximately 600 hours per year on-site Base period of performance: 1/1 31/2027, with four option years through 12/31/2031 Credentialing and privileging (VHA Directive 1100.20/1100.21) must be completed before the first duty day Required Qualifications Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR); Master's or PhD level Licensure with the Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists where applicable, maintained throughout the contract period Minimum 2 years of continuous, current clinical experience within the last 3 years 2 years' experience performing QA procedures 1 year of Therapeutic Medical Physics experience in an ACR-accredited healthcare system 1 year of experience with Varian linear accelerators (IX and Trilogy) with BrainLab accessories, per TG-142 standards 1 year of Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) experience, including Cone Beam CT, per TG-142 standards 1 year of experience with Eclipse treatment planning and ARIA record & verify systems, including 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and

(TG-53); must be able to plan these cases independently 1 year of IMRT QA experience (MapCheck I/II or equivalent) 1 year of experience with Siemens Somatom CT Simulator or equivalent, per TG-66 standards Fluent spoken and written English; verifiable education and training history with no unexplained gaps Ability to maintain current CME/CEU requirements and report hours for credentialing Ongoing Compliance Annual mandatory VA training: BLS (every 2 years), Active Threat Training, EHR, Government Ethics, Patient Abuse, Patient Rights, Patient Safety, and Prevention of Disruptive Behavior/Workplace Harassment Annual submission of current certification documentation to the VA COR Maintenance of professional liability coverage as an independent contractor Compensation Pay range: $175 $210/hr, depending on experience, board certification level (MS/PhD), and equipment-specific proficiency. This reflects national board-certified physicist benchmarks, the New York metro cost-of-living premium, and a part-time contract premium for specialized on-site coverage. This is a non-personal services contract; the physicist is not a VA employee and is responsible for their own tax withholding, malpractice/professional liability coverage, and benefits.
