Stony Brook is home to the only deep brain stimulation surgical program, TAA Center of Excellence for Tourette syndrome and Tic Disorders, HDSA Center of Excellence for Huntington's disease in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Suffolk County has a catchment area of 1.5 million residents, of which nearly a quarter of a million are geriatric. We are members of the Parkinson Study and Huntington Study Groups, with active clinical trials and investigator-initiated research. Responsibilities include:
Management of patients with Movement Disorders, including inpatient Movement Disorders consultations. Commitment to community engagements and education. Coverage of the general neurology and consult services shared equally among faculty. Favorable weekend and overnight call responsibility shared equally among faculty. Supervision of neurology residents and medical students. This represents an exciting opportunity for a Movement Disorders neurologist interested in building an outpatient movement disorders practice at the region's premier academic medical center. Qualifications Required Qualifications:
MD, DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Movement Disorders fellowship training. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology. Eligibility for New York State licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years or more of fellowship training. Proficiency in DBS programming and botulinum toxin treatment. Experience in DBS intraoperative neurophysiology. Interest in building specialized programs focusing on neurogenetics, ataxia, normal pressure hydrocephalus, or brain bank.
