Job Description
Optum is seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist to provide high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with digestive and liver disorders. You will perform endoscopic procedures, interpret diagnostic tests, and manage acute and chronic GI conditions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic, procedural endoscopy, limited inpatient consults, and participation in quality improvement and population health initiatives. Responsibilities Provide outpatient and inpatient consultative care for gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, related interventions) Interpret GI imaging, endoscopy, and laboratory results to develop treatment plans Manage chronic GI diseases, including IBD, IBS, liver disease, and GERDCollaborate with primary care, surgery, radiology, and other specialists for coordinated care Document encounters and procedures in the electronic health record with high accuracy Participate in quality improvement, population health, and value-based care initiatives Engage in peer review, case conferences, and continuing medical education Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment options, and preventive care Support a culture of safety, equity, and compliance with regulatory standards Required Skills Gastrointestinal disease diagnosis and management Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy Sedation and peri-procedural management Interpretation of GI imaging and labs Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Population health and value-based care familiarity Quality improvement methodologies Multidisciplinary care coordination Evidence-based clinical decision-making Patient education and communication
