• Responsibilities:
• + The primary duties of this position involve the practice of medicine as a licensed physician specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of tuberculosis (TB) in Oklahoma.

+ This position also consults in general communicable diseases and is involved with the state bioterrorism and preparedness activities.

+ This position helps develop policies, procedures, and recommendations related to the management of tuberculosis in Oklahoma.

+ This position requires expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of adults and children with suspected or proven active tuberculosis (or latent tuberculosis infection).

+ This includes experience and skill in chest x-ray interpretation, knowledge, and practical application of laboratory testing, methods and results, through knowledge of standard and alternative drug regimens for treatment of TB, ability to manage the complications of TB therapy and skill in conducting contact investigations and other public health interventions.

+ The candidate should be comfortable working in a distributed public health system in which tuberculosis patients are evaluated locally in 1 of 75 counties in the state by CHD nursing staff through nursing protocols.

+ The candidate should be comfortable working with computer software and applications.

+ The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to write papers/manuscripts.

+ The candidate should have strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

• Minimum Qualifications
• + The candidate for this position should have a doctoral degree in medicine, hold an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oklahoma (MD or DO) and should have at least 5 years of experience in clinical practice and disease management. A minimum of 5 years experience in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis is preferred.
