Child Life Specialist Pediatrics and Critical Care (Full-Time)

Job Description

Role Overview:
Responsible for planning, developing, and delivering Child Life programs to address the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events in inpatient pediatric areas. Collaborate with marketing and media teams for photography, filming, and interviews; host donor events. Develop strategies to reduce children's fear and anxiety related to healthcare experiences. Prepare patients and families for procedures using therapeutic play activities. Assess child's developmental stage and emotional state to tailor interventions. Identify and apply coping strategies for patients and families facing hospitalization, illness, or loss. Provide specialized services to meet individual needs and consult with healthcare staff on developmental and behavioral issues. Maintain accurate records of services provided and manage departmental budget and resources. Offer Child Life consultations to support patient visitors and their needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) with State of Pennsylvania licensure upon hire. Bachelor's Degree in Child Life or related field. Minimum of 1 year experience working with children in a healthcare setting. Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, stand and walk frequently, and perform activities such as kneeling, bending, and CPR as needed.
