Job Description Inpatient Psychiatrist (Forensic Setting) Kerrville, TX | Weekdays Only | Hybrid 25% On-Site Overview If you're a psychiatrist who wants meaningful clinical work, a predictable weekday schedule, and a team-based environment , this inpatient opportunity at Kerrville State Hospital may be a great fit. You'll care for adult patients in a forensic psychiatric hospital setting serving the Texas NGRI (Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity) population-while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and clinical leadership. You can expect a steady, manageable patient flow (average ~24 patients , with ~1-2 admissions/discharges per month ).
Schedule:
40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM No after-hours or weekend call
Rate:
$200/ hour Work model: Hybrid with at least 25% on-site ( on-campus preferred) Assignment term: Immediate start , 6 months with option to extend (start date depends on clearance/credentialing) Required Skills You can provide direct inpatient psychiatric care : assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management You're comfortable with face-to-face evaluations and responding to emergencies/restraint events as needed You have experience supporting adult patients , including dually diagnosed populations You work well in a residential inpatient environment (not outpatient clinic) You can complete court-related physician documentation and participate in associated processes (including testimony when required) Participation in medical staff meetings and QI activities, including quarterly QSO chart reviews You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary treatment team You can follow facility and HHSC policies, including attendance/leave expectations Nice to Have Skills Prior experience in a forensic inpatient psychiatric setting Confidence with court paperwork and testimony Interest in quality improvement initiatives and structured chart review Experience partnering with or mentoring nurse practitioners Preferred Education and Experience MD or DO (Psychiatry) Inpatient psychiatry experience with adults (forensic experience is a plus) Demonstrated ability to lead clinical care within a structured hospital environment Other Requirements Active Texas Medical License with no sanctions Active DEA registration Able to be credentialed with hospitals utilized by the facility Current AHA CPR certification maintained throughout the assignment #P1 Meet Your Recruiter Kristen McClure kmcclure@alerionhealthcare.com kmcclure@alerionhealthcare.com About Kerrville, TX Discover exciting job opportunities in and around Kerrville, Texas!
