Job Description

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physiatrist (PM&R Physician) to join our growing orthopedic practice in Beaufort, South Carolina . This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who wants to build or expand a practice focused on non-operative spine care, musculoskeletal medicine, interventional treatment, electrodiagnostic testing, and rehabilitation while working alongside an established orthopedic and physical therapy team. The Physiatrist will serve an important role in our continuum of orthopedic care, providing patients with conservative and rehabilitative treatment options designed to reduce pain, restore function, improve mobility, and help patients return to the activities they enjoy. Our multidisciplinary approach allows the Physiatrist to collaborate closely with orthopedic providers and physical therapists to develop comprehensive treatment plans and determine the most appropriate pathway for each patient. Key Areas of Practice The position will have a particular emphasis on: Non-operative spine care Musculoskeletal medicine Musculoskeletal and joint injections EMG/NCS testing Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions Rehabilitation and functional restoration Coordination of care with physical therapy Conservative management of orthopedic conditions Appropriate referral for surgical evaluation when indicated Position Responsibilities Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal, orthopedic, spine, and functional conditions. Provide comprehensive non-operative management of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions . Diagnose and manage joint, soft-tissue, nerve, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Perform musculoskeletal and joint injections within the physician's training, credentials, and scope of practice. Order and interpret diagnostic testing, including X-rays, MRI, CT, and other studies as indicated. Develop individualized treatment plans focused on reducing pain and improving mobility, strength, and overall function. Work closely with physical therapists to develop, coordinate, and monitor rehabilitation plans . Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and other providers to determine when surgical consultation or intervention is appropriate. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation expectations, and long-term management strategies. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation. Collaborative Orthopedic Rehabilitation Model A significant advantage of this position is the opportunity to work within an integrated orthopedic and rehabilitation environment. Rather than treating musculoskeletal conditions in isolation, the Physiatrist will collaborate with orthopedic providers and physical therapists to create coordinated treatment plans for patients who may benefit from conservative management before considering surgical intervention.

Qualifications Required:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Current South Carolina medical license or eligibility to obtain licensure Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
Preferred:
Experience in an orthopedic or musculoskeletal practice Experience performing musculoskeletal and joint injections Experience performing and interpreting EMG/NCS studies Experience working collaboratively with physical therapy and rehabilitation providers Interest in helping develop and grow a comprehensive PM&R/non-operative orthopedic service line Why Beaufort, South Carolina?
