Diagnose and manage endocrine disorders, including but not limited to type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid dysfunction (hypo/hyperthyroidism, nodules, thyroid cancer follow-up), adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and lipid disorders. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures (e.g., laboratory panels, thyroid ultrasounds, bone density scans, continuous glucose monitor data, insulin pump downloads). Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, insulin titration, and hormone replacement therapy, in accordance with clinical guidelines and collaborative practice agreements. Prescribe medications and durable medical equipment within scope of practice and state regulations. Provide patient education on disease processes, self-management techniques (e.g., glucose monitoring, insulin administration), lifestyle modification, and medication adherence. Manage chronic disease follow-up visits, adjusting treatment regimens based on clinical response and lab results. Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, dietitians, diabetes educators, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Respond to patient phone calls, portal messages, and refill requests in a timely manner. Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with regulatory and billing requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based guidelines and emerging therapies in endocrinology. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical outcome tracking. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, clinic policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. Non-Essential Job Duties Participate in community outreach or health fair events related to diabetes/endocrine awareness. Assist in training and mentoring new staff, students, or residents rotating through the clinic. Contribute to development of clinic patient education materials or protocols. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Strong foundational knowledge of endocrine physiology and pathophysiology. Familiarity with current clinical practice guidelines (e.g., American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinology). Knowledge of pharmacology related to endocrine and metabolic disease management, including insulin regimens and hormone therapies. Understanding of relevant diagnostic testing and interpretation of endocrine lab panels and imaging. Skills Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills. Proficient in EHR documentation and clinical workflow systems. Skilled in patient education and motivational interviewing techniques to support behavior change. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and the care team. Time-management skills to balance a busy outpatient visit schedule. Required Qualifications Physician Assistant:

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.

Nurse Practitioner:

Master's degree and certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. Current, unrestricted state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. National certification (e.g., ANCC/AANP for NPs; NCCPA for PAs). Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one. Current BLS certification. Prior clinical experience in endocrinology, internal medicine, primary care, or diabetes management preferred. Mental Requirements Ability to concentrate and maintain attention to detail over extended periods, including during high patient volume days. Sound clinical decision-making and critical thinking, including under time pressure. Ability to manage stress associated with complex patient cases, difficult conversations, and clinic pace. Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience when working with patients managing chronic or life-altering conditions. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to schedule changes or urgent patient needs. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the clinic day. Ability to perform physical examinations, including bending, reaching, and occasional lifting/positioning of patients or equipment (up to 25 lbs). Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures (e.g., point-of-care testing, fine motor tasks) and operate computer keyboards/EHR systems. Visual acuity sufficient to review lab results, imaging, and patient charts, and to perform physical assessments. Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with patients and staff. Work Environment Fast-paced outpatient clinic setting with scheduled patient visits throughout the day. Regular use of computers, EHR systems, and standard clinical equipment. An exempt position responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with endocrine disorders in an outpatient clinic setting. Working collaboratively with endocrinologists and the broader care team, the AP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients with conditions such as diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal disease, metabolic bone disease, and other hormonal disorders.
