Job Description
Description This on-site, contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality primary care to patients in a community-focused healthcare setting while enjoying the flexibility of locum tenens work. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will provide comprehensive care for patients across all age groups—managing acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and preventive health needs. Working within a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in improving patient outcomes and supporting the health and well-being of the Sisseton community. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions Conduct routine physical examinations, health screenings, and preventive care assessments Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures as medically indicated Prescribe medications and treatments, ensuring patient safety and appropriate follow-up care Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient encounters Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment options Coordinate patient care with specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care Participate in on-call coverage and support seamless patient transitions within the practice Requirements Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of South Dakota Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority Associate-level clinical experience in family medicine or primary care settings Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach Ability to work effectively in an on-site, fast-paced medical practice environment Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems Commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement, and professional development
