In this full-time role, you'll provide developmentally appropriate play, education, and emotional support to reduce fear and anxiety, prepare children for procedures, and promote coping throughout hospitalization. Responsibilities Provide developmentally appropriate play, education, and emotional support to pediatric patients and families. Assess psychosocial needs and create individualized coping and support plans for children facing medical procedures or hospitalization. Prepare children for procedures using age-appropriate education and medical play to reduce fear and anxiety. Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to integrate child life services into care plans. Support families through crises, grief, and adjustment to diagnosis, offering resources and referrals. Advocate for child- and family-centered care, promoting comfort, safety, and inclusion in decision-making. Facilitate therapeutic group and bedside activities that support normalization and emotional expression. Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the electronic medical record. Educate staff, students, and volunteers on child life principles and developmentally sensitive care. Participate in quality improvement, program development, and professional development activities.
