Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a qualified, experienced Collaborating Physician to provide clinical collaboration and medical oversight for a Nurse Practitioner providing healthcare services in Accomac, Virginia. The Collaborating Physician will work in partnership with the Nurse Practitioner to support high-quality, evidence-based patient care and ensure clinical practice is consistent with applicable Virginia laws, regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies. This is a part-time contracted position designed to provide ongoing physician collaboration, clinical consultation, and oversight without requiring full-time onsite physician coverage. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Collaboration Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with the Nurse Practitioner in accordance with applicable Virginia requirements. Provide clinical consultation and guidance regarding patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management. Be available to the Nurse Practitioner for consultation regarding complex, urgent, or medically challenging cases. Assist with clinical decision-making when a patient's condition falls outside the Nurse Practitioner's experience, scope, or established clinical protocols. Review and provide input on clinical protocols, treatment guidelines, and standing orders as appropriate. Facilitate appropriate referral to specialists or higher levels of care when indicated. Quality & Clinical Oversight Participate in periodic review of patient care, clinical documentation, and treatment practices. Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices. Review selected charts or cases as appropriate to the practice setting and applicable regulations. Assist with identifying opportunities to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and continuity of care. Provide guidance regarding appropriate follow-up and escalation of care. Regulatory & Professional Responsibilities Maintain an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license. Maintain appropriate professional credentials and certifications. Comply with applicable Virginia Board of Nursing and Virginia Medical Board requirements governing physician collaboration and Nurse Practitioner practice. Maintain professional liability coverage as required by the organization or contractual agreement. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements. Participate in credentialing and privileging processes as required. Qualifications Required Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Current, unrestricted Virginia medical license. Board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate medical specialty. Current DEA registration, if required by the scope of services. Current BLS certification, as applicable. Minimum of [3-5] years of clinical practice preferred. Experience providing clinical oversight or collaboration with Nurse Practitioners preferred.
Pay:
$80.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 per week
