Immediate opening for Emergency Room (ER) Physician to support the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Qualifications:
Degree/Education Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
Board Certification:
Possess board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, or the American Osteopathic Association. Certifications in addition to
Basic Life Support:
Possess Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training certification
Residency:
Successful completion of a residency program in Emergency Medicine which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.
Experience:
Possess a minimum of three years of experience within the last four years as an Emergency Medicine Physician. HCW Duties for ER Physician includes but not limited to: Perform the evaluation, admission, diagnosis, treatment, disposition, and management of emergency medicine patients. Provide prompt subspecialty or other specialty referral and consultation assistance to other specialty services in the hospital. Provide teaching and supportive services to medical students, interns, Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellows and/or residents. Respond to all codes and render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize patients in cases of serious illness or injury. Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's primary physician, or consultant, for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions. Interpret results of diagnostic studies and determine appropriate treatment regimens according to established standards, guidelines, and protocols. Conduct patient education with an emphasis on prevention of illness/injury. Contact medical personnel to obtain and provide substantive confidential, medical information within limits of legal restraint and provide recommendations and advice to management regarding the medical conditions of specific employees.
