Psychiatry and Medication Management, Endocrinology, and Telehealth Services. We are launching our first Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) program in Springfield, Virginia, and are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to serve as its Medical Director on a flexible hourly basis. This is a founding leadership role designed to grow with the program: expect approximately 8-12 hours per week during launch, expanding as patient volume builds.

Position Summary:

The Psychiatrist will provide medical leadership for Kemet Health's TMS program, working alongside a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who serves as the program's primary day-to-day treatment provider.

Your focus is top-of-license work:

comprehensive evaluations, cortical mapping and motor threshold determination, treatment protocols, clinical supervision, complex cases, and program quality. An optional general psychiatry caseload (telehealth medication management) is available for candidates who want additional hours.

Responsibilities:

Program Leadership:

Serve as Medical Director for the TMS program: clinical protocols, patient-selection standards, safety standards, and documentation requirements. Provide clinical supervision and collaborative oversight for the program's PMHNP and, as the program grows, TMS Technicians. Support payer prior-authorization and medical-necessity documentation standards. Participate in quality assurance, periodic chart review, and program development.

Clinical Care:

Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to determine TMS eligibility, including review of psychiatric history and prior medication trials, contraindication and safety screening, and patient education on risks, benefits, and expectations. Perform or oversee cortical mapping and motor threshold determination; establish individualized, evidence-based treatment parameters. Provide oversight of active treatment delivered by the PMHNP, remain available for clinical consultation, and personally manage complex or treatment-resistant cases.

Guide monitoring and maintenance:

standardized symptom assessment, response evaluation, taper and maintenance planning, and coordination of follow-up psychiatric care.

Qualifications:

Required:

MD or DO with an active Virginia medical license (or eligibility to obtain). Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN). Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain prior to employment). Current BLS certification. Experience with TMS therapy, including evaluations, cortical mapping, motor threshold determination, and clinical management. Strong clinical judgment and experience leading independent treatment decisions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.

Preferred:

Experience launching, directing, or expanding a TMS program. Formal TMS training or certification. Experience with interventional psychiatry, including Spravato or ECT. Experience supervising NPs, technicians, or clinical teams. Outpatient psychiatric practice and EHR experience.
