Position Highlights

As a Staff Anesthesiologist at Martinsburg VA Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive perioperative medical care, anesthesia services, pain management, and critical care support to our Veteran population.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and anesthesia risk evaluations
  • Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies related to anesthetic management
  • Obtain informed consent and optimize patients for surgery and procedures
  • Administer general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation services
  • Manage airways, including advanced airway procedures and intubation
  • Monitor physiologic parameters and adjust anesthetic plans throughout procedures
  • Perform invasive monitoring, including arterial and central venous catheter placement
  • Manage intraoperative fluid, electrolyte, and blood product therapy
  • Provide post-anesthesia care in PACU and ICU settings
  • Perform acute and chronic pain evaluations and management
  • Administer multimodal analgesia, epidural therapy, peripheral nerve blocks, and PCA management
  • Provide anesthesia services outside the operating room, including procedural suites, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheterization laboratories
  • Lead and participate in perioperative emergency response and resuscitation efforts
  • Provide ventilatory and hemodynamic support for critically ill patients
  • Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, residents, and medical students
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
